Our clients had recently purchased this central London property and were keen to explore the possibility of converting their existing flat roof into a roof terrace garden. The client’s primary objectives for this terrace were to both add value, but also to provide them with a much improved view from their kitchen onto the roof itself.
The roof terrace featured many utility/service items as interruptions to the available floor space so Aralia’s first step was to cleverly design a combination of raised flooring and planting within the roof terrace, so that the new contemporary roof terrace would consist of two clean useable levels. New balustrade needed to be introduced for health & safety, but also Aralia introduced features such has hardwood contemporary wooden trellis and evergreen hedging in planters, to provide privacy from surrounding properties and the Marleybone Hotel opposite. The clients primary vision for this roof terrace was to enjoy a luxurious entertaining space, perfect for relaxing but also for perhaps entertaining whilst they were in London. Aralia designed an outdoor lounge area which included integral storage space as well as beautiful seating, together with a mini outdoor kitchen for alfresco cooking on those occasional warm summer nights.
Aralia worked as Landscape Architects working within a multi-disciplinary consultant team and a range of sub-contractors. Aralia were responsible for concept creation through to design detail. This project has not yet been completed.
